General Background:
I was born in 1965 in a South Yorkshire market town and attended the local Grammar School before going on to study Economic History and Public Administration.
I joined the legal profession in 1985 as a trainee Legal Executive and went on to qualify to Associate level working in private practice with a number of Solicitors' practices in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
Although my own areas of expertise within the legal profession, gained over many years, have been property, probate, trusts and tax related I have also managed to maintain a strong interest in financial services and consumer related issues.
I have four grown up children from my first marriage and two young children from my second marriage (to the love of my life, I would add). I also now have two young grand-daughters, who are the same ages as my own youngest children - which causes a lot of confusion about whether I'm "daddy" or "grandad" !
I have always tried to use my own experiences, good or bad, to try to make a positive difference to the lives of others. It was for this reason that I went into the legal profession in 1985 and it's why this website now exists.
Although the two primary topics dealt with on this website may, on the face of it, appear very different - in reality, they both actually come down to one thing - the right of individuals to be treated fairly and honestly and not to be misled or exploited by companies which we ought to be able to trust.
